EIGHTH GRADE

Eighth grade at Cornerstone Christian School is an exciting and transformative year filled with challenging academics, spiritual growth, competitive sports, engaging field trips, and unforgettable experiences. This final year at CCS is designed to prepare students for a smooth transition into high school, equipping them to excel academically, spiritually, and socially. Our staff is dedicated to helping students develop their God-given talents and grow into leaders in their future schools and communities.

Core Subjects

  • Bible: Daily lessons focus on deepening students’ spiritual growth and understanding of God’s Word, encouraging them to live out their faith.

  • Math: Students advance their mathematical skills with courses tailored to their progress, choosing between Pre-Algebra or Algebra.

  • Language Arts:

    • Emphasis on grammar, vocabulary, and analytical writing, with a strong focus on essay composition.

    • Students complete book reports and creative projects to strengthen critical thinking and communication skills, laying a strong foundation for high school writing requirements.

  • U.S. History:

    • A comprehensive study of the development of the United States, from early exploration to modern times.

    • Highlights the influence of the Christian faith in American history.

    • Students complete a U.S. Monument/Memorial project to deepen their understanding of national landmarks and their significance.

    • Includes a field trip to the Ronald Reagan Library, enriching their historical studies with hands-on learning.

  • Physical Science:

    • Focuses on foundational principles of science, preparing students for high school Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

    • Includes engaging projects such as a bridge-building competition where students design and test earthquake-resistant bridges.

Elective Courses
Students explore their interests and develop new skills through a variety of electives, including:

  • Visual & Performing Arts: Art, Culinary Arts, Mock Trial, and Digital Photography/Yearbook.

  • STEM & Technology: Hands-on tech labs, coding, and digital literacy.

  • Language: Comprehensive Spanish courses to build language proficiency.

  • Life Skills: Workshops on study habits, personal finance, public speaking, and leadership, complemented by sessions with guest speakers.
