THIRD GRADE
In Third Grade, students engage in a well-rounded curriculum designed to deepen their academic, social, and spiritual growth. Core subjects include Bible, Reading, Language Arts, Spelling, Science, Social Studies, Art, and Math. Enrichment classes such as Music, Spanish, and STEM further enhance their learning experience, fostering creativity and critical thinking.
Bible
Students study the life and ministry of Jesus, key events from the Old Testament, and the foundations of apologetics.
Biblical principles and character traits are emphasized to build faith and Godly character.
Daily prayer, weekly Bible verse memorization, and chapel participation help students grow spiritually.
Language Arts
Focus on grammar, parts of speech, figurative language, and clear communication.
Writing activities develop research skills, critical thinking, and creative expression through narratives, reports, and poetry.
Math
Topics include multiplication, division, fractions, geometry, and problem-solving.
Additional focus areas include measurement, time, money, and interpreting data.
Science
Students explore the solar system, weather, climate, earth science, and life science.
Hands-on activities, field trips, and guest speakers enrich their understanding of ecosystems, animals, and stewardship of God’s creation.
Reading
Students read across various genres to build comprehension, fluency, and a personal connection to literature.
Activities include summarizing, analyzing story elements, comparing themes, and discussing authors’ perspectives.
Social Studies
Students study local history, geography, and community, with a special focus on family heritage.
A research project on Native American tribes emphasizes the Chumash, culminating in a visit to the Chumash Indian Museum.
Spelling
Focus on identifying word patterns and improving writing precision, communication, and reading fluency.
Art
Students explore famous artists and their works, emphasizing stylistic elements and artistic movements.
